Finished in white porcelain, this box takes its shape from a mezuzah, the small case placed on the doorpost of a Jewish home. It is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box figurine made in Limoges, France, a decorative tribute rather than a case meant to hold a scroll.
Blessing at the Threshold
The mezuzah marks a home as a place of faith and welcome, and many families touch it each time they pass through the door. This porcelain version carries that meaning to a shelf or side table. Its white finish keeps it calm and understated, so it sits gracefully among silver candlesticks and other Judaica.

Doorposts and Kaolin
Porcelain has been made in Limoges since the late 1700s, after kaolin was found near Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche in 1768. Give this piece to a couple moving into their first home, for a bar or bat mitzvah, or as a Hanukkah remembrance for a family that values tradition.
