Canary Yellow Paint Tube Porcelain Limoges Box

Squeezed and ready for the palette, this tube of canary yellow paint is modeled in porcelain with its crimped end and cap. It is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box made in Limoges, France, a bright tribute to anyone who works with a brush.

A Squeeze of Canary

Canary yellow is one of those colors painters reach for when a canvas needs sunlight. Here it becomes the whole subject, a cheerful object that looks like it just rolled off a studio table. There is an inside joke in the idea of a hand-painted paint tube, and artists tend to catch it right away.

Set it on an easel ledge, a studio windowsill or a bookshelf full of art books. It makes a fun present for a painter, an art teacher at the end of the school year or a graduate with a new fine arts degree. Pair it with real brushes in a jar and it looks as if it belongs to the working kit.
