Brown Bear on a Beehive Honeycomb Limoges Box

A brown bear has found the jackpot, perched on top of a beehive and its honeycomb. The sweet scene was painted by hand in Limoges, France, on this porcelain figurine box.

Sweet Tooth in the Woods

Bears and honey are one of nature's most famous pairings, celebrated in folk tales and storybooks for generations. This piece captures a bear at the very moment of triumph, a cheerful reminder that patience and a good nose are usually rewarded.

For Beekeepers and Bear Fans

It makes a fun present for a backyard beekeeper, a farmers market honey seller, a forest ranger, or anyone whose tea is never without a spoonful of honey. Give it as a sweet thank-you to a friend, or for a cabin housewarming. It sits nicely in a kitchen near the honey jar, on a lodge style mantel or a cottage shelf.

Porcelain has been fired in the Limoges region since kaolin was found near Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche in 1768, and its craftspeople have never been shy about playful subjects like this one.
